Who makes Nooka
Nooka is made by Bagl Limited, and built by Aron, who also writes the guides on this site. It is a small operation rather than a large team: the same person designs the shelves, writes the code, and answers the support email.
Aron makes Nooka, a scrapbook and collage app for iPhone and iPad. He has been building the app and its bookshelves since 2025, and writes these guides from the same pages he makes for himself.
Why it works the way it does
Most apps in this category hand you a grid and ask you to drop photos into boxes. That produces a tidy result quickly, and it produces a result that looks like everyone else’s. Nooka starts on a blank page instead, with a cutout tool, because a page that took a little effort is the kind you reopen.
The second decision was storage. Nooka keeps your files on your device and works fully offline, with iCloud Backup to your own iCloud account as an option rather than a requirement. There is no Nooka account, no sign-up, and no server holding your pages. The trade-off is real and worth stating: there is no web version, no collaboration, and if you lose the device without a backup, the pages go with it.
Nooka is free to download, and the free tier is meant to be genuinely usable rather than a demo — a guided first page with every tool unlocked, then a book and a canvas of your own. Nooka Pro removes the limits. There are no ads at any tier.
What Nooka is not
It is not a printing service — it exports images, and printing them is up to you. It is not a photo backup or sync service. It is not a note-taking or e-reader app, despite the bookshelf. There is no Android version and no web version, and neither is planned. If any of that is what you need, the comparison of scrapbook apps points at better options.
